Finishing Assembly on the Liberi Warband

Fanticide Weekend continues! I took a bit of a break to eat some pizza for dinner and then turned my attention to finishing the cleaning and assembly work on the Liberi warband. This time around, I worked on the line troops - the shootists and stickers.

Liberi Cheveyo, Shootists, and Stickers

Looking through the models, I had seven of each, along with one model that looked like a sticker but was armed with a warclub. All of the stickers are one-piece white metal models. The shootists are one- or two-piece metal models. The two piece shootists are comprised of the body and a separate bow. I was missing one of the bows, so I rolled out a bit of green stuff to replace it.

All of the models were fairly clean of mold lines. There were quite a few that had internal flash that needed trimming with a knife, but this was fairly easy to work out with a pointed blade and a bit of patience and attention. You can see some of the internal flash between a stickers arm and weapon in these pics.

Everything cleaned fairly easily with my half-round file, clippers, and a razor knife. Once I cleaned the flash off the models, I stuck them to their bases with super glue. I had to adjust some of the bases to get the models to sit level and look right. The metal bent fairly easily, but I wonder about the durability of some of the models that are positioned to balance on two legs. The legs are a little thin, so I'll have to see how they hold up with extended play.

Here are the assembled shootists. Note the Kneadatite bow on the third model from the right.

Here are the stickers.

The rogue model that is dressed like a shootist but armed like a Cheveyo doesn't really fit with either unit. So I am going to see if I can use him as a Shaman for the moment. That way I can see how a Shaman works in a game and have a way to use the model.

The odd model Shaman

I ended up moving the Chief to a 40mm Games Workshop base (since he is probably going to be rebased as a Cheveyo once I get a new Chief model). Then I used the Chief's base for the Shaman. The Chief's base will be a little taller than the rest of the warband's bases, but that's what you get for being Chief!

So that's the whole Liberi force assembled! It took me about six hours to get everything together, including time out to take lots of pictures. I took a fair amount of time cleaning and assembling these guys. As Drew likes to say, nobody spends as much time on mold lines as I do. I figure any extra time I spend cleaning them now makes it easier for me to paint them down the line, so it all works out in the end.

Here's the whole group. That's 24 models ready to go.

Next up is the Fae!

  1. Thanks! These guys went together really easy, and I can't wait to get some paint on them. Looks like that's going to happen tomorrow morning, so Sunday should be a full day of brushwork!
